Settling in Marrakech

Our practical advice for a successful move, whether you come for a season or for life.

1. Choose your neighbourhood

The Medina for charm and authenticity, Gueliz and Hivernage for neighbourhood life and services, the Palmeraie or the Ourika Road for space and peace. Take time to visit at different times of day.

2. Rent before you buy

Renting for a few months lets you get to know the city, try out a neighbourhood and prepare a purchase calmly. We offer short and long-term rentals.

3. Buying as a foreigner

A foreigner can buy a home in Morocco (agricultural land is subject to specific rules). The sale goes through a notary, who checks the title deed and secures the payment. On top of the price, plan for the acquisition costs (registration duties, land registry, notary fees): the notary will give you the exact amount.

4. Residence formalities

Depending on your nationality and length of stay, some formalities may be required (residence permit, opening a bank account…). Rules change: check with the competent authorities or get support.
